Ukrainian aces Dynamo Kyiv all but sealed their passage to the group stage with a barnstorming win in front of a stunned crowd at the Luzhniki in Moscow. Dynamo Kiev booked their place with a thumping 4-1 win away to Spartak Moscow

The home fans actually had reason to be cheerful first of all as Nikita Bahenov opened the scoring four minutes in from close range, signalling the start of a period of Russian dominance.

But just before the half hour mark Ismaël Bangoura sealed an equaliser after seizing on a dreadful Mozart pass-back to beat Peltikosa. Just before the break Dynamo grabbed a shock lead as Milevskiy finished from eight yards after Bangoura`s shot was initially kept out by the `keeper.

Right after the interval Guinean ace Bangoura once again showed his predatory streak to capitalise on yet another defensive error to score from a one-on-one, and he was to set up Milevskiy for his second and the Bilo-Syni`s fourth.

FC Shakhtar 2-0 NK Dinamo Zagreb

An impressive performance from the Donetsk side gave Shakhtar every chance of progression.

Darijo Srna got one over on the club from his homeland with a sweet free-kick after he was fouled on the edge of the area by Hrgovic. An injury to his teammate Raţ soured the mood of the home supporters briefly, but Brandão then set up Jadson for a second on the half hour mark.

Dinamo tried to hit on the break in the second period, but overall the hosts looked more than comfortable; indeed, Kelava was kept busy until the final minute.

The Miners, should they perform as well in the second leg, seem clear favourites to progress to the group stage now, and Dinamo must up their game significantly.
