Myroslav Dutchak, deputy Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sports, thanked all Ukrainian sportsmen for their efforts and informed about awards that they will receive in Ukraine for their medal. He claimed this speaking in the Ukrainian Olympic House in Beijing on August 24.

In particular, he informed that, in July of 2008, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko signed a Decree, in line with which champions and prize-winners of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing  and their coaches will receive the following amounts every month during two years: for gold – 15 thousand hryvnias [~US $3218], for silver – 12 thousand hryvnias [~US $2575], and for bronze – 10 thousand hryvnias [~US$2145].

Besides, the government of Ukraine increased prizes up to 700 thousand hryvnias [~US $150 214.5] for the first place, 500 thousand hryvnias [~ US $107 296] for the second, and 350 thousand hryvnias [~US $75 107] for the third place.

In addition, head of Rodovid Bank OJSC Denys Horbunenko made decision that the bank will pay 50 thousand hryvnias [~US $10 726]for a gold medal, 35 thousand hryvnias [~US $7 510]– for a silver medal, and 25 thousand hryvnias [~US $5364]– for a bronze medal.
