Yevhen Seleznyov scored a first-half penalty Wednesday for Ukraine to beat 10-man Norway 1-0 in a friendly, AP reported.

Serhiy Nazarenko broke down the left flank and into the box before he was fouled to win the spot kick. Seleznyov put the ball past goalkeeper Jon Knudsen, who dived left, in the 26th minute.

Norway was reduced to 10 men in the 50th. John Arne Riise kicked the ball into the referee`s back after a decision in Ukraine`s favor. After consulting his assistant, the referee showed Riise a red card.

Ukraine coach Alexiy Mikhailychenko said he used the match to give a chance to players at home.

"Today we tested players from the Ukrainian league," Mikhailychenko said. "It was impossible to reach complete understanding between the players in just two days."

Ukraine dominated the game, out-shooting Norway 10-2.

Fredheim Holm had an early chance for Norway, but his header off Riise`s corner shaved a post in the eighth minute.

Two minutes later, Knudsen blocked Volodymyr Gomeniuk`s header.

Ukraine wasted several more scoring opportunities in the first half.
