At a Working Group meeting on 5 December organised by the Council of Europe`s Standing Committee on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour at Sports Events, government officials and sports federations will evaluate reports on Euro 2008 to anticipate issues that may be faced in and out of stadia during future tournaments such as the World Cup 2010 (South Africa) and Euro 2012 (Poland and Ukraine), according to a CE press-release forwarded to UNIAN.

Among issues to be studied: handling public viewing areas outside stadia and creating a more welcoming environment for spectators entering stadia, to pre-empt possible violence and racism.

The day-long meeting will bring together Standing Committee members representing countries across Europe and observer states worldwide, FIFA organisers of the South Africa 2010 World Cup, the organisers of Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, UEFA officials and FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) among other NGOs.
