Dynamo Kyiv on Saturday took on Dynamo Moscow in an attempt to prepare for next week`s return to competitive action against Valencia in the UEFA Cup.

The Muscovites, too, needed match practice as they seek to build on last season`s 3rd place finish when the Russian Premier League begins anew next month.

But the encounter in Marbella in fact ended just after the hour mark. The referee had had to dish out an average of one yellow card every ten minutes, and when a mass scuffle broke out early in the second half it was clear that injuries and fights were on the cards if the game was to continue.

The referee apparently suggested ending the encounter early, to which both coaches agreed, with Dynamo Kyiv especially eager to end the match without losing the services of a player.

In the event, the match "finished" 1-1. The Kyiv side took the lead through Sergiy Krazchenko before Aleksandr Kerzhakov equalised just before the break.
