Popular UK bookmaker William Hill has listed Werder Bremen as the very slight favourite to win the 2009 UEFA Cup over Ukraine`s Shakhtar Donetsk in Istanbul this Wednesday, Betting Choice reported.
Werder are listed at 13/8 compared to Donetsk`s 7/4. The draw is available at 21/10 and extra time here is not ruled out, especially if Shakhtar can maintain the defensive solidity that`s carried them to the final.
The most likely correct score is a 1-1 draw at 6/1. A 1-0 margin to Bremen would pay out at 8/1 compared to Shakhtar`s 1-0 which pays 9/1. This one will likely be tight, especially in the first half. 0-0 at half-time is a very plausible bet.
For the record, Luiz Adriano and Claudio Pizarro both share the same 2/1 price for anytime goalscorer. Neither of those are particularly good bets. According to Betting Choice, the first goal is going to come from a defensive mistake more than stellar attacking play.
