Ukraine coach Alexei Mikhailichenko was understandably disappointed, after seeing his side go down 1-0 on the night and on aggregate to Greece in their World Cup play-off match in Donetsk, according to Goal.com.

"I feel very disappointed and sad that we lost," he said in his post-match press conference.

"There are no excuses. The boys did everything they could to try and get the win but they didn`t succeed.

"We were a little out of luck. I can`t say that my team played badly. I believe that the team which deserved to go to the World Cup has won."

Ukraine reached the quarter finals in the 2006 World Cup before eventually being beaten by Italy. However, it will be the Euro 2004 champions who progress to the finals in South Africa.
