Andriy Shevchenko is a major concern for Ukraine ahead this summer`s FIFA World Cup after it was confirmed that the AC Milan striker twisted his left knee during Sunday`s 3-2 win against Parma FC, according to UEFA.

The 29-year-old limped out after just eight minutes of the Serie A fixture at the Stadio Ennio Tardini and there were fears that the injury would require surgery. Those fears have been allayed following a scan today but Milan`s medical staff revealed that the 2004 European Footballer of the Year will have to rest for about up to four weeks in order to recover from his injury.

Shevchenko therefore faces a race against time to recover on time for Ukraine`s World Cup debut on 14 June against Spain. There are more immediate concerns for club side Milan, who will be without their talismanic top scorer for their last league game against AS Roma on Sunday. It is a must-win match for the Rossoneri, who currently lie three points behind Juventus in the race for the Scudetto.
