Titleholders FC Shakhtar Donetsk prevailed 2-0 against FC Kryvbas at Donbas Arena to climb two points clear at the top of Ukrainian Premier League, according to FFU inform-service.  Yevgen Selezniov put the hosts in front two minutes from half-time with a superb overhead kick before Olexandr Shevchuk (47) doubled their lead.

Last season’s runners-up FC Dynamo Kyiv, who were eliminated from the UEFA third qualifying round in the midweek, eased past FC Karpaty Lviv at home 2-0 to move level on 11 points with second-placed FC Metalist Kharkiv. Yuriy Semin’s side secured three points thanks to goals by Andriy Shevchenko (34) and Ognjen Vukojević (54).

George Florescu (44) and Maxim Shatskikh (45) were on target as FC Arsenal Kyiv put FC Vorskla to the sword in Poltava. The hosts’s misery was compound as they ended the game nine-men following Olexiy Kurylov (87) and Roman Bezus (95) dismissal. Leonid Kuchuk’s side left ten-men after Sergiy Symonenko’s 90th-minute sent-off.

Paired against FC Sochaux Montbéliard in the UEFA Europa League play-off round, Metalist defeated 2-1 newly promoted FC Oexandriya at home. Jonathan Cristaldo (40) and Cleiton Xavier (77) gave the hosts a lead with the visitors cutting the deficit after Andriy Gitchenko’s goal two minutes from time. Earlier on Friday FC Zoria Lugansk secured a 1-0 narrow win at home against FC Metalurh Donetsk courtesy of Vyacheslav Checher’s own goal (90+3). FC Volyn Lutsk were a 2-1 winners at FC Illichivets. The visitors went ahead through Maicon de Oliveira’s brace (39, 44) before Ruslan Fomin reduced the arrears (73) for the hosts.
