The Lazio striker is struggling with a knee injury and has had to withdraw from the squad for Friday`s international game in Kiev, according to Goal.com.

Germany coach Joachim Low has received some disappointing news in the build-up to Friday`s international friendly away against Ukraine as striker Miroslav Klose has picked up a knee injury and will not be fit in time for the match in Kiev.

The experienced forward has been in impressive form for Lazio in the 2011-12 campaign, scoring six Serie A goals so far.

However, Klose is suffering from an inflamed tendon in his left knee and will not feature on Friday.

The German Football Association (DFB) reports on its official website that the 33-year-old will rest for several days and is then expected to resume training on Saturday.

Klose is expected to have recovered in time for the match at home versus Netherlands on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach`s Marco Reus is also doubtful for Friday`s match as the 22-year-old has been hit by a bout of flu. The winger will make a decision on his availability later on Tuesday.
