Ukrainian rally legendary dies in Bulgaria
His wife navigator survived by a miracle
The legendary Ukrainian rally pilot Andriy Aleksandrov died in a severe crash during game of the 28th Rally Sliven on Sunday, local media reported Monday, according to Xinhua.
Alexandrov, competing on a Subaru Impreza, lost control during the 12th special stage and crashed into a tree roadside.
The pilot died on the spot, but his wife navigator Oksana Aleksandrova survived by a miracle and was sent to local hospital for further treatment.
Her life is not in any apparent danger, said doctors in the hospital.
Andriy Aleksandrov was a legendary in Ukraine. He won the country`s rally championships for five times. Sunday`s game was also his first competition after a 13-year-pause of his career.
