President Victor Yushchenko attended a ceremony in Sumy on Tuesday to inaugurate an Olympic training center of the Ukrainian Banking Academy of the National Bank of Ukraine, according to the President`s press-office.
“I am convinced such events are consistent with the fundamentals of national policy.
The nation’s health is a key priority,” he said, thanking all those who had made a contribution to the construction of the center.
“Sport is diplomacy, one of the most successful diplomacies. The country’s victories at global competitions are another proof of how the nation explores the world through sports or invites the world to explore Ukraine,” he said, expressing hopes the newly opened facility would be used by those athletes who "will achieve great success."
The president then spoke with the academy’s students and gave them a symbolic cup and certificates to buy sports equipment..
