Roma guaranteed themselves a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after an explosive first-half performance propelled them to victory at Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday, according to Sporting Life.
There was no coming back for the Ukrainian champions after goals from Christian Panucci, Ludovic Giuly and Mirko Vucinic inside the opening 36 minutes established a comfortable advantage for the Italians.
Although Ismael Bangoura reduced the deficit on 63 minutes, the hosts` hopes were dashed when Vucinic scored his second with 11 minutes remaining.
The result sees Roma join Manchester United in the next phase, with the Italians having secured the second position in Group F, while Dynamo are without a point after five games.
Luciano Spalletti`s men went into the encounter without injured captain Francesco Totti, but found in-form defender Panucci on top of his game.
Italy international Panucci, who scored against Genoa on Saturday to follow up his strike against Scotland in the Euro 2008 qualifying clash, silenced the Olympiskiy Stadium after just four minutes played.
Panucci`s swinging cross-shot from the right stunned goalkeeper Olexandr Rybka and put the Eternal City giants on their way.
Shortly after, Panucci could have scored his second, but his close-range header from Max Tonetto`s cross went wide of the far post.
At the other end, Bangoura`s right-footed effort forced goalkeeper Alexander Doni to fully stretch.
Midway through the first-half, Giuly`s header from Tonetto`s cross from the left went wide as Roma kept up the pressure.
Dynamo conceded their second on 32 minutes when Giuly beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper before firing the ball into the back of the net.
Just when the hosts thought it couldn`t get any worse, Roma struck again just four minutes later.
Giuly`s pass sliced Dynamo`s defence wide open and Vucinic struck past Rybka from inside the area.
Despite leading 3-0, Roma continued to surge forward and Dynamo were grateful for the whistle signalling half-time.
Spalletti made his first substitution after the re-start, with Mauro Esposito replacing Rodrigo Taddei, who had returned on Tuesday after a two-month absence through injury.
Dynamo showed more determination but it was the Italians who looked more dangerous.
On 50 minutes, Tonetto warmed the hands of Rybka with a stinging drive from the edge of the area.
The hosts were finally able to break through shortly after the hour mark, with Maksim Shatskikh assisting Bangoura whose strike beat Doni.
But the goal by no means hindered the Romans, who kept going forward much to the despair of the home fans.
It didn`t take the Italians long to kill the game off for good.
Tonetto served Vucinic, whose right-footed effort from the edge of the area beat Rybka.
Dynamo defended deeply and avoided further embarrassment as the referee brought down the curtain on an awful night for Anatoli Demianenko`s side.
